Janelle introduces us to Jay Berkowitz for a podcast that is packed with info on social networking. Jay goes over his 10 Golden Rules of online marketing. This podcast is a preview to his class he will give at eBay Live! in Chicago. He explains why TV is a ‘one-way’ communication, the Internet is a two way communication. You put your marketing out there and get feedback on how your marketing is going by traffic, comments, sales, etc.
Google Analytics is a must for entrepreneurs marketing on the web. To analyze where, how, when, etc. your traffic is coming from.
Jay explains his 10 Golden Rules for Interent Marketing. You can’t just build it and wait for traffic, you need to optimize your marketing using tools and strategies.
Using social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, you can create your own user generated content.
Golden rules for staying on the leading edge:
1. Listen to Podcasts - saves time, listen while doing other tasks to keep up-to-date with latest techniques.
2. Blogs - for people who like to read more than audio listening.
3. Twitter - micro blogging, send out twitter tweek, micro message, follow people who have interesting tweeks.
Jay walks through where to start Web 2.0 for marketing your site. Follow the ‘apple a day’ concept. Constantly update your content daily. Get other sites to link to your site. Unique Value Proposition, a give away for people that come to your site. This will help to build trust with your followers. Set up an eNewsletter to send out to your group.
Find out what ‘Reputation Management’ is and how to use it and protect it on the web. How important are ‘long tail keywords’ on the web? Using these strategies leads to ‘Free traffic to beat Recession’ for your web sales!
Are you looking to take your Web 2.0 social networking on the web to the next level? Make sure and listen to this podcast!

Oh - wish I could hear the eBay Live Presentation - can it be put out as a podcast? I will check out the 10 Golden Rules Blog and website.
Just when everyone has been talking down multitasking - Jay recommends it (listening to podcast driving). Great.
So much to do, even with more than ‘24 hours’ in the day, it will take many weeks to do it all.

Jay Berkowitz helped me to better understand Web 2.0; how powerful the Social Media is and the impact it can have on my business.
I totally agree with him and Janelle in the fact that “learning never stops”. Realizing that we can get information overload, his adivice to pick the “low hanging fruit” was very helpful - to pick a strategy or two and go from there - to do things well and not be a perfectionist.
Commenting on blogs, calling into podcasts, to “Join the Conversation”, definitely enriches the learning experience - something I need to do more of.
Thanks again, Janelle, for sharing great info!
Blessings,
