Sylvia, you are a wonder! I learned a lot about myself during this podcast! I already have a pile of things that “make me happy” so I really get that concept. I also like the idea of not having to do it all in one day, but don’t much care for the idea of having to do it every day! LOL! 2 boxes a day is now at the top of my “Wish list” - if you other Rock Stars want to get in on the organizational action, YOU MUST listen to this podcast - you will wish you could kiss Janelle AND Sylivia’s feet!

Wonderful interview!! Nice to know some of the things we have already implemented into our disorganized lives will actually help us in the long run :)! Love the idea of organizing 5 min a day and increasing the time as days go on! Many of these ideas will work with our girls as well! Can’t wait to tell my youngest her room is a watermelon– time to show her how to make it into apples!!!
I get lost in the computer so often!!! Distractions are our biggest downfall! Off to buy some time cubes!!

I am so glad there are people like Sylvia in this world, to help us with these issues! I have checked out the links and the self assessment test is so insightful!
Sylvia gives us some great tips on how to break out of our ‘bad habits’ of procastination. The methods are so easy to implement, you find yourself thinking, ‘Why didn’t I think of that!’ No big mystery here, just good common sense and really examining your methods.
This podcast is an eye opener…If I follow the notes I’ve taken, I can probably find some of that lost that I keep losing!

What an amazing teleconference! I thought the time cubes were a brilliant idea and bought the package that included the time cubes and the book. I’m always looking for ways to boost my productivity and be able to live and work in an organized environment. Sylvia offered some incredible tips that I began to implement as soon as the teleconference was over.

Just listened to Taming the Chaos with Sylvia McClintick and I am ready to use her tips to get more organized myself. I have always loved to help others get rooms, closets, basements and even garages organized so this class really caught my attention. I live in a very unique home that has 2 apartments attached to the back of it — one I am currently using as an ebay office, shipping room, inventory room, my kids computer room, filing, storage, etc. and it is just too cluttered and chaotic to be productive in so after listening to Sylvia talk, it is time to fix up & use the other apartment as another work area for my ebay business — I’m even inspired to hire / source out a part-time employee to help me with shipping, etc. (giving someone a job & more time for me to list) — GREAT INFORMATION!

Oh wow, what an amazing interview! Definitely hope we’ll have Sylvia come back again, as she had lots of great tips.
With a craft-oriented business, I have an office and sewing room dedicated to my projects, but they are very messy and cluttered with supplies, storage units, accessories, paperwork overflowing, etc.
The idea of devoting just 5-10 minutes to filing is brilliant - in no time I’ll have my filing caught up doing that (and filing is one of those projects taht I hate, so I tend to throw things in the “to be filed” pile and they never get filed. I’ll definitely implement that one right away. Also, I cannot echo enough Sylvia’s suggestion to use spreadsheets. I use them EXTENSIVELY for everything from inventory control, to my financial records. If you have multiple computers in multiple locations, you can store a file on a flash drive to move it between systems, or if you have a network set up, access the files from multiple locations within the house.
A couple of tips I’ve heard of that might be helpful:
Color coding is a great way to visually separate different activities that may be taking place in the same space. For example, business folders are red, personal finances are green, school papers for your kids are blue, etc. I also use white boards and bulletin board/corkboards with 3X5 cards to help me keep track of short term projects, as well as my current pending orders.
I even bought the “Mission: Organization” book off of eBay, so I can hopefully use its guideance to get me going in the right direction. I feel if I can organize these two spaces, and become more efficient, that will free up time I need for my most important work - producing the products I sell. Thanks again!

This was amazing!! Sylvia has been in my home and office! I love that she feels God has pushed her into this business — what a joy that He lets us do what we enjoy!! Her tips are right on — she is definitely a Rock Star. I feel I will listen to this again and again. My favorite tip is the 5 minute a day rule. I am so visual and so much a perfectionist - and because of that, I am often overwhelmed when I can’t do things to my level of perfect. I can also see how I can fit the 5 minutes in to help me get organized. Thanks so much Sylvia and Janelle!!

Simply wonderful podcast!
We tend to live our lives as Watermelons, but Sylvias ideas on how to turn them into Apples is awesome.
Her ideas are terrific for anyone, in any stage of life, for organizing anything (not just for business, work, but play and live in general too).

Such fabulous information.
~ I need those time cubes! I am guilty of procrastination and feeling too overwhelmed by the magnitude of what needs to be done. I now feel empowered to break up the task into 5-15 minute time slots so that large tasks can begin. Thank you!
~ However, I do proudly admit that I am doing something right! I have devoted a lot of space in my house for “this abundance program” of eBay. I have dedicated 2 bedrooms, the dining room, living room, and 1/2 of the den for my eBay business. My house may look like a warehouse, but it’s an organized warehouse! I keep my inventory in see-thru plastic tubs, stacked 5-6 high, so that I can find items easily when they sell. It was refreshing to know that I am doing something right!
Thanks again for enlightening and motivating me to get on top of my paperwork. I needed that push.

Sylvia has some great ideas. I am all for using the timer - that’s a real help to me!
The two questions that she mentioned to help in deciding to let go of something gives me a different way to look at things.
Listen to the podcast and reap the rewards!
Thanks Sylvia!

Fun Podcast and VERY useful to anyone who is an ebayer as we all have “issues” with “stuff”, packing supplies and time constraints! To speak ONLY for ourselves, we have plenty of watermelons, so going to get the sledgehammer to break them up into apples! First have to get some baskets to hold the apples! *smile*…. This makes us think of the comedian, Gallagher with his sledgehammer and fruit smashing on stage, right into the audience!
Here’s to success AND organization!

This as sooooo needed. I have “things” everywhere and although I know where most of it is sometimes I panic when I sell something that I won’t be able to find it.
One thing I liked was the idea of keeping it simple. I tend to over think things through and it gets so overwhelming I don’t do anything.
Now I’m off to Office Depot for FILES!

Thanks, Sylvia, for the tips. I will try the five minute filing idea. It fits right in with how I think. For years I have done what I call the Twenty Minute Clean-up. I set the timer and for twenty minutes, I just straighten things up around the house… sort of a reduce the daily clutter. I don’t allow myself to do any long term projects during that time, just quick stuff that can be done right away. It works for me and my family. Some times we all would participate, but usually it is just me.
Good luck with your business and thank you for sharing your positive energy.

Wow! I am so happy that the ideas flow so well into things I have picked up from elsewhere… some things have just stuck so well, and I didn’t want to have to totally change everything I was doing, just needed help making it work with a business AND a home. I love the time cubes, I think those are going to become “Mommy’s Work Timers” as soon as I get them.
I think I am off to start a spreadsheet and start recording all the inventory that I’ve gotten up here so far— 15 minutes at a time! Can’t wait to listen to the other recording with you Sylvia! Thank You!
