Colette gives us great ideas of what products to sell and those products that may not be what we think! This podcast will help quite a few online businesses not to make the costly mistake of buying products either from the wrong type resource or a product that is costly that doesn’t sell!
Everyone wondering what to sell and where to get it, watch this podcast!

OneSource is a good tool to have, but it’s not perfect.
It too all-encompassing to be perfect. I bought it in the Spring, you pay a life-time fee and you’re set, that’s a GREAT thing about it!
While I have gotten hooked up with some good suppliers through the tool, I do run in to suppliers who are not responsive, don’t speak or type English (and sorry, mu Chinese is STILL not up to par!) or whose websites are non-functional. I’m sure it was all fine when OneSource signed them up, but their circumstances changed and they’re not the same as when they were signed up. Guess that’s not something you can hold against OneSource, and I still think it’s a good tool. This podcast does spend a LOT of time talking about what NOT to sell — so that’s a good pointer for folks just starting out and who might not know WHAT to sell!

We received this from WorldWideBrands who were concerned that there were non-responsive companies on their site:
At Worldwide Brands, we not only work hard to pre-qualify suppliers for OneSource, but we also work hard to continually go through the database and update supplier information. If at any time you have any problems, please email info@worldwidebrands.com and let them know and our researchers will investigate and update the listings (even remove them if needed).
It can take anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks for a supplier to return your inquiry about an account. Some suppliers are large and have a larger process in place to setup accounts and other companies are smaller, so everyone must wait their turn. Suppliers are in the business of moving product as fast as they can. The majority don’t have a customer service staff that is constantly on the phones helping sellers. We always recommend to sellers to apply for an account through the recommended method first. If you do not get a response within 3-4 business days and cannot get a good response via email, then try phoning them to ask your questions. The holiday season is also the busiest time of year for suppliers because there are many orders to be filled in a very short time frame, so expect longer delays in communications during this time of year.
If you continue to have difficulties though, please send us the company name that you are trying to contact, and we will be happy to contact them to make sure that they aren’t having any issues.
Thanks,
Colette Marshall

thanks, Janelle (actually, Colette!)
Next time I run in to supplier like that, I’ll definitely send you guys an email.
You made a very good point, by the way, about wholesalers ALSO being in their busiest time of the year… if ussums e-tailers are busy, THEY must be busy too…
And your point about most wholesalers not having a team of customer service people at the ready and near the phone is well made… I never thought of that. As a relatively new e-tailer (only been at this for about 3 years now), maybe I still approach my suppliers too much with a “I am the customer” attitude… Learned something again today!

For a beginning seller wondering where in the world do you find products to sell after you sell all the things you no longer use…this is great! Very specific info and explained in a way that is easy to comprehend. Especially enjoyed the info concerning Niche Markets…liked the analysis of how difficult/easy it would be to sell particular product online and how many in same category are already being sold on ebay. This can definitely improve the profit potential on ebay. Thanks for the great class!
